Ostoure Future Bike

 |  by LunchBox  |  Rides, motorcycles

futurebike2

As we progress further into the 2000’s we hope the reality of flying cars, spaceships and all the other stuff sci fi movies promised us comes to fruition. One guy who’s on that path to making up some futuristic vehicles is designer Mohammad Reza Shojaie. What we have here is an aircraft-inspired street bikethat features speakers and a screen that displays vital information via an in-helmet HUD. Also as you can see the handlebar setup varies from the traditional one and switches it up to vertical bars remeniscent of fighter plane controls. Definitely fresh.

Calfee Designs’ Bamboo Bike

 |  by LunchBox  |  Bikes, Rides

calfee

When looking for a bike most of our options are aluminum, titanium or carbon fiber frames. But how about bamboo? California based Calfee Desgins brings us their newest addition to the bike market. Built by Craig Calfee who started out building carbon fiber frames in 1987. In 1995, as a publicity stunt, he built a bamboo-framed errand bike. The success of the bike made him build 11 more for for staff, family and friends. In 2005, he decided to go into production and now offers road racing, triathlon, cyclocross and mountain models. Bamboo is used for all the main tubes, although you can choose carbon chainstays for extra stiffness. The tubes are put together using hemp fiber lugs and finally coated with polyurethane. Weighinn roughly 4-6lbs, the frames are said to offer excellent vibration damping, with a decent amount of stiffness. The bamboo has tested to be so crash-resistant that Calfee has ceased to offer carbon mountain bike frames anymore. With a price tag starting at $2,695 for the frame only, this bike is definitely aimed at the serious biker. Available at the Calfee website.

PUYL Bicycle pump x light by Formpasch

 |  by GT  |  Bikes, Rides

puyl-pump-light-hype-geek-00

Formpasch cohesively combined the two known elements every biker needs when cruising the late night with the Midnight Ridazz or any pack that delves in the late night excitement.  The PUYL is a bicycle pump and portable light all in one – this combination provides an unlimited light source and a bicycle pump for urban cyclists in an instant.  It’s the first permanent illuminating bicycle light that doesn’t need a battery.  The idea is based on Faraday’s law of induction. Instead of batteries, it uses electromagnetic induction. The electricity is generated by moving the compressor/ magnet through the two copper coils that are located around the inner compression tube. The light’s battery is charged while pumping.  Read more…
