2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro "The Return of a True Beast"

2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro "The Return of a True Beast"

I’ve owned some fun rides over the years — including a Tacoma TRD Pro, which I still consider one of the best-balanced trucks Toyota ever made. I ended up trading that in for a Tesla, and while the instant torque and tech were cool, something’s been missing ever since: that raw, mechanical thrill of a real off-road machine.

Then came the 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro - and ever since I saw it, my blood’s been pumping again. This thing isn’t just a 4x4; it’s a statement. It’s basically Toyota’s answer to the Raptor, built to dominate trails, dunes, and mountain passes while still looking like a monster on the road.

Under the hood, it’s powered by Toyota’s new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, pumping out 326 horsepower and a massive 465 lb-ft of torque. That hybrid system doesn’t just help with efficiency - it gives this SUV instant low-end torque when you need it most on steep climbs or soft sand.

The 4Runner also rides on Toyota’s all-new TNGA-F platform, shared with the Tundra and Land Cruiser, giving it a stronger and more rigid foundation. Combine that with 33-inch all-terrain tires, Fox QS3 adjustable shocks, and a stabilizer bar disconnect, and you’ve got serious trail-ready hardware that adapts to any terrain.

On the road, the TRD Pro balances its wild off-road capability with a surprisingly refined drive. It’s quieter, smoother, and more modern than ever - without losing its rugged DNA.

The only downside? The price tag. These things aren’t cheap, and like most of us, I’m not trying to overpay for hype. My plan: either grab a lightly used one once they start hitting the market or wait a year for prices to cool off.

But make no mistake - this is my next 4x4. The 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro is everything I’ve been waiting for: aggressive, hybrid-powered, trail-ready, and flat-out badass.
